Kingston Clippers hosted Durham United FA in the final men's match of matchweek two,
and despite the 0-0 scoreline it was an exciting draw between two pacey teams with
an attacking mentality.

"I think the team have started the season very well, and the energy they've been
putting into their training sessions is translating to the games," said Clippers
technical director.

"Today's result, the nil-nil, is a good result because they are grinding out
results and playing with a passion and pride that we are looking for from players."

Kingston started the more energetic of the two sides, earning a free kick inside
ten minutes that Oliver Coren put into the wall. Shortly thereafter his teammate
Arnold would force Durham's Ben Cowman into a solid reflex save.

Durham's Joseph Roccasalva was the next to create an opening, beating the keeper
with a toe-poke that had Kingston's GK Dustin Kemp beat but would not steer
into the gaping net behind him.

"Tonight was something I've never really been a part of before," said Kemp.
"When you get a group with everyone on point like this, it is something else."

"I've never witnessed a game like that. It was great to be a part of and I'm
just happy I could play a part to help the team because they probably helped
me more than I helped them tonight!"

Just before the half-time whistle, Durham again went close with a great team
move that resulted in the final header just missing the target.

A half-volley from LeRohne Young to start the second half signalled renewed
intentions by the visitors to get on the board, but despite the solid
connection the ball rocketed wide of the top corner.

Left back Bruce Cullen was the next to register a near miss, before forward
De Jonge clipped the top-side of the crossbar with a volley just before the
end of the ninety minutes.

"I thought we did well, and I think it is a good point away," said De Jonge.
"We had a lot of chances in both halves, but couldn't capitalize. I think
if we got one early it could have been a different story, but again - I'm happy
with the point but it could definitely been three with all the chances we had."
