Final Score:...Sigma FC.....8.....FC London.....0......

Attendance was about 80 on this mild but rainy night. Actually the game started while it was still daylight
as we're only one day after the summer solstice. The rain varied between light and stopping completely
but was at it's hardest at the start of each half.

Triston Henry earned the shutout for Sigma. He had to survive twice being flattened and flipped over while
jumping for high balls in the box. He had one sequence where he made saves of a shot and a rebound
within 2 seconds while at 8 yards although the second one was flagged offside.

Goalie Connor Dalton was playing his first L1O game of the season for London. Anthony Sokalski who is their
regular goalie was listed on the game sheets as the backup. FCL only brought five bench players and I heard
that some on the roster were from their U-21 team (six I counted)--TFC III they aren't! FCL plays their
home games on Friday nights but this was a 3+ hour drive for them as the visitors. The late start meant
there were no children here except the ball boys.

On paper this was the best match of the Quarterfinal with the teams tied for second place in the standings
with four wins and one tie—FCL also has one loss—however this game was over by the 10 minute mark. I had
my mouth open with that “What, What!?” look as those first open play goals were World Cup highlight reel
calibre. I'm so used to writing 'over the bar' and 'well wide left or right' or both. I was here
on June 2nd when these two teams played and Sigma took until 14 minutes before scoring their first
in a modest 3-0 win in league play.

Sigma has a real scoreboard clock now. L1O chair Dino Rossi was at the game and said he had a few custom
ones built and imported from China. It is on trailer wheels and the size of a large flat screen TV.
It's simple with just the time and home and visitors score but looks better than the previous table-top
one that I had to squint to see. He said he also got one for Masters FA. He also answered my question
about the Cup draw being completely random and witnessed as it looked funny that Woodbridge and Vaughan
are meeting on Sunday in the Quarterfinal after meeting in the final the last two years. It was all drawn
at once like a tennis bracket for convenience sake.

Marcel Zajac is still absent from Sigma. He still hangs on to the league scoring lead with seven goals
although he hasn't played since I saw him go down at 2 minute mark of their June 9th game against Sanjaxx.

Daniel Jodah played in his first full game this season. I remember him from the TFC Academy over
the years. He played for Sigma last year and the TFCA PDL team in 2016 while attending
Marshall University in NCAA.

This was also the first game this season for Jelani Smith. I watched him and his brother Jamaal play
for Canadian Lions of the CSL in 2007 (I needed Wikipedia help for that fact but they linked to my report!).
He was born in 1991. His older brother was the winner of the sham/publicity stunt open tryouts
for MLS Toronto FC in early 2007 while attending York University.

Sigma moves on to the semifinals and plays the winner of tonight's 8:30pm match at Victoria Park
in Brampton between ProStars FC vs Toronto FC III.
