Battery break six-game winless streak, defeat Toronto;

THINGS THAT MATTERED

1. The Charleston Battery bagged an important victory as O’Brian Woodbine had a goal and assist
in a 4-0 win against Toronto FC II to break a six-game winless streak for the visitors
at BMO Field. After scoring only one goal in their past three games the Battery attack
pushed the side into sixth place in the Eastern Conference and just three points back
of the second-place Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.

2. The Battery’s victory arrived at a key moment of the season for the perennial playoff
contender, which visits regional rival North Carolina FC next week before games against
Indy Eleven (July 11), Louisville City FC (July 14) and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (July 21),
all of which currently sit in the top five in the Eastern Conference.

TORONTO FC II (0), CHARLESTON BATTERY (4)

The Charleston Battery scored all of their goals in the second half in a 4-0 victory against
Toronto FC II at BMO Field. Neither side recorded a shot on goal in the first half,
but a defensive error opened up a chance that Charleston’s Ataulla Guerra seized upon
to open the scoring in the 59th minute, and six minutes later Kotaro Higashi put home
a second. Goals by O’Brian Woodbine and Gordon Wild inside the final 10 minutes then
wrapped up victory for the visitors.
