York9 FC failed to score for a second home match this week, playing to a 0-0 draw against HFX Wanderers FC
at York Lions Stadium on Saturday.

The result means the Nine Stripes have now taken part in back-to-back stalemates at home, having played
out to a nil-nil with FC Edmonton on Wednesday.

Neither side looked particularly threatening offensively in the first half, with HFX failing to record
a shot on target. York9 would feel unfortunate not to have a penalty called in their favour
in the 38th minute when HFX defender Andre Bona took down a charging Manny Aparicio in the box.

Both sides did open up in the second half, however, with Y9 striker Rodrigo Gattas smashing the first
half-chance of the match straight at HFX goalkeeper Jan-Michael Williams to open the second frame.
York9 centre back Luca Gaspartotto had the best chance of the match in the 60th minute but failed
to tap a low cross into an empty net.

A few second-half shots from HFX striker Tomasz Skublak – with one forcing a massive save out
of Y9’s Nathan Ingham – was all she wrote for the visitors, who have yet to score on the road in the CPL.

Both teams will now focus on midweek opposition as the Spring session comes to a close. The Wanderers
travel east to host Valour FC on Wednesday (6:00 p.m. ET, 7:00 p.m. AT/OneSoccer), while York9
are set to host league-leading Cavalry FC (7:00 p.m. ET/OneSoccer) for a third home match in seven days.

22' – Yellow Card – Wataru Murofushi (York9 FC)

Three key performers

Diyaeddine Abzi (York9 FC)
York9 FC’s starting left fullback had an effective day out. Playing his sixth 90-minute performance
in less than a month, Abzi scared away the likes of Akeem Garcia with some snappy defending.
His cross nearly found Gattas for a potential winner at the end of the match, too.

Daniel Gogarty (York9 FC)
Another good match from York9’s young centreback, Gogarty cycled the ball well as the side went
on to hold possession 63% of the time. Gogarty held an admittedly weak HFX attack at bay, too,
with the visitors only managing two shots on target.

Kodai Iida (HFX Wanderers FC)
A rare attacking bright spot for either side, Kodai Iida held the ball well and did a decent job
at supporting striker Skublak, making good lateral runs as an attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1.
