Attendance was about 50 on this warm night with a light rain stopping before game time. Windbreakers
at night for the Thanksgiving is unusual for this late in the season. Of course a limit to attendance
was probably the fact that the World Cup Qualify with Canada away to Jamaica was taking place.
I had read from the schedule that the game would start at 8:30pm but that was a makeup game
(from August 29 against Unionville Milliken) that Vaughan are hosting Wednesday night and this game
started at 7:30pm so I was just got here as the teams were taking to the field. Hey good luck with
Wednesday's game as I expect to be at BMO Field watching Canada host Panama.

Referee Giancarlo Pavone only gave out one Yellow card the entire game. He ignored the shoutouts
from both teams for Penalty kicks and handball calls. Vaughan head coach Patrice Gheisar in one
heated exchange across the field to his own players said something like “Let it go, he made the
wrong call but he'll get the next one right”--not exactly a vote of confidence for Pavone but
probably avoiding a card for dissent to an angry player as the VA player immediately shut up.

Orlendis Carlos Benitez Hernandez was back as a starter for Vaughan. I'd ask about his absence
earlier in the season and was answered that he was out injured. It wasn't his first game back
but he was a starter tonight and scored a goal.

Darby listed both Le Shaun (1994) and Le Rohne (1995) Young as substitutes. I have watched these
brothers since the first year of L1O back in 2014 playing for Durham United (also an Eastern GTA
area team) but they'd usually leave by September or sooner to return to NCAA schools. Now I expect
their school days are over so they will stay the entire season.

Le Rohne had an impression he did after scoring "I just want to play hockey" in a French Canadian
accent. He said something similar when he came in at halftime.

Durham's long throw-in man was Colin Keay. The word must get around as his throws weren't taking
the opponents by surprise. I had forgetten that he'd been doing this for years.

For the second VA game in a row that I've attended (Sept 19th vs Woodbridge), Jahsua Mills came
into the game to replace his older brother Jason Mills. Both times at 78 minutes...spooky!

The win improves unbeaten Vaughan to a record of 7 wins, 1 tie, 0 losses for 22 points with four
games for them left in this pandemic shortened regular season. Tonight's win opens up a four
point gap on Masters FA with one game in hand in the race for first in the Eastern Conference.
Top two teams qualify for the semi-final to crossover and play the top two of the West. Good news
for their club earlier today as their U-15 Boys won the Challenge Cup in Mississauga so their
long term future looks bright.

Darby's record falls to 2 wins, 5 losses, 3 ties for 9 points and stay in sixth of the seven team East.
