4 min...Masters Reshon Phillips GOAL...Phillips receives high chipped pass up right and he takes low 20 yard shot
into left side of net over sprawling goalie.
5 min...MFA Spencer rolls pass from 28 yards on left between players for goalie top pick up ball.
8 min...MFA goalie stops low 22 yarder from right. B Trench rebound from 6 yards is also stopped on short side by goalie.

but he started run for pass in own half so he wasn't offside. He almost overruns ball but low 15 yard shot is saved
by goalie Spiridon Koskinas on short side. Gertiesingh blasts 12 yard rebound to open right side of net.
35 min...MFA YELLOW card...*Dabire earns it for crash with B Avolonto at edge of B box. (the L1O website has Dabire earning
a Yellow card but it looked to me like Philips was given the card).
39 min...Masters Reshon Philips GOAL...Philips receives pass splitting defence on edge of box. His 15 yard shot is stopped
point blank by goalie Quillan Roberts but the rebound comes straight back to him which he chests down and shoots over
now fallen goalie.
40 min...B YELLOW card...Miranda earns it for tackle that flipped over either MFA Philips or Morris.
41 min...MFA Spencer 45 yard freekick from left is batted down by goalie on left side of box.
42 min...MFA Spencer suffers head injury at MFA 30 yard line.
44 min...B Zaghloul slides and 22 yard shot is batted down by goalie.
45 min...MFA players have two shots blocked from edge of B box.
47 min...B YELLOW card...Avolonto earns it for hand ball call at B 45 yard line.
49 min...Masters Eddy Dabire GOAL...Master's cornerkick from left has ball in box and Dabire fires 10 yard shot
up the middle which goalie reaches back to catch. There was some confusion as the goalie cleared to start a fast
1812 breakout but the whistle was blown by referee Scott Bowman. The 1812 bench questioned why the half would end
on a breakaway for them but it was because Bowman had just awarded a goal after the referee's assistant caught
his attention by waving his flag. He was in position to see that the goalie had caught the ball behind the line.

Attendance was about 60 on this cold night. Huge contrast between this afternoon and this parka wearing night. In previous years the entire season was over by the Thanksgiving weekend but we still have two weeks to go to finish the regular season then a two week playoff. 1812's roster listed a full 18 players but I counted either three or four subs on the bench so pickings were slim. Adel Rahman, a usual starter subbed in at 63 minutes. He was saying to another player he should have started then told me he was injured so that's why the late appearance. Brother Navid Rahman is serving a suspension. That Master's third goal was of key importance in the game because it gave them a two goal lead and some leeway to not get too conservative. Quillan Roberts prevented any further goals. I solved two mysteries by choosing this game over the two other GTA area games. 1. The incident that got Master's head coach and AC Hubert Groves suspended for the rest of the season (actually Groves just four games) happened during a game against Vaughan Azzurri. Hmm the LlO site boxscores for that September 4th game lists 'no game details available' more than a month later but the game is up on their YouTube channel...should be fun to watch if I ever get the time. 2. The previous meeting (only two games ago because of rescheduling) of 1812 and Masters ended in a 4-4 tie with goalie Quillan Roberts only playing 75 minutes and then Masters scoring two late goals. Turns out Roberts was Red carded and a field player went in net (1812 still only has signed one goalie). The league software has no way of showing a goalie can ever get a Yellow or Red card. It doesn't look like Roberts served a suspension as the one game before tonight he played the full 90. A pregame fistbump with Masters Akeem Priestly, the hero of the 2019 L1O Cup final. He said this was only his second game of the year. After getting home I looked up and found he'd only played 10 minutes before tonight's 16, and that was in the 1812 game when he scored one of those late goals. I counted six Yellow cards in this game, evenly distributed. 1812's Youssef Zaghloul left the game with a dislocated finger in the second half. "How did it happen?" he was asked. "It got caught in a uniform" he said. Oh oh. he must have been holding someone. No Yellow. He was treated by the Master's physio as 1812 didn't bring one. Improvized equipment but it looked like his hand could be a ping pong paddle until he received medical treatment. This was a huge result for Masters with them improving their record to 6 wins, 1 loss, and 3 ties for 21 points and clinch second place. This opened up the gap between second and third to an insurmountable 7 points over Unionville Milliken and 1812 FC to 8 points. Top two teams in the East make the playoffs and cross over and play the top two in the West. Vaughan Azzurri had 25 points but may increase that tonight away to last place North Toronto Nitros which had not been updated at the time of my posting. 1812 FC's record falls to 4 wins, 6 losses, 1 tie for 13 points so with one game left in the schedule they are out.
