Match Report: Toronto Tops Richmond For First Win Since Return To Canada By USLLeagueOne.com Staff, 08/06/21, 6:00PM EDT Share A SECOND-HALF STRIKE FROM ANTONIO CARLINI EARNED THE YOUNG REDS ALL THREE POINTS TORONTO - A second-half strike from Antonio Carlini earned Toronto FC II a 2-1 win over the Richmond Kickers on Friday afternoon at BMO Training Ground. TFC II took an early lead when a cross took a freak deflection off of Richmond's Juan Pablo Monticelli and went in, but Richmond would level the score just nine minutes later. Nil Vinyals won and converted a penalty for the Kickers, and the Spaniard nearly doubled his and the visitors' tally moments later but was denied by an excellent save from Caleb Patterson-Sewell. The Young Reds continued to have the majority of the possession in the second half, and made that advantage count in the 69th minute. A sharp bit of combination play between Carlini and Luca Petrasso played the former in, and he made no mistake with a deft finish to the far post. Carlini's goal would hold up through the final 20 minutes of the match as the game-winner, and TFC II collected its first victory since returning to its true home in Canada. Richmond will return to action next Saturday when it hosts the New England Revolution II at City Stadium. TFC II has a 12-day break before hitting the road to face Forward Madison FC on August 18.
