Match Report: Toronto II Battles Back Twice against Forward Madison By USLLeagueOne.com Staff, 08/18/21, 10:15PM EDT TORONTO II IS ABLE TO SNEAK AWAY WITH A POINT AFTER COMING FROM BEHIND TWICE AGAINST FORWARD MADISON MADISON, Wis. - After 837 days, Toronto FC II returned to Breese Stevens Field to take on Forward Madison FC in a battle for vital points in the tight League One playoff race. Forward Madison took the lead early in the match thanks to Aaron Molloy, who scored off a rocket from outside the box. A ball off an attempted Toronto II clearance landed on the foot of Molloy, who used his juggling skills to get around a defender and smashed the ball off the volley and into the back of the net. Toronto II was able to level the game in the 28th minute when Antonio Carlini laid off a beautiful pass to Julian Altobelli, who made a perfectly timed run to beat the defenders and calmly finish the play. Only five minutes after the whistle blew to kick off the second half, Forward Madison had retaken the lead. Justin Sukow kicked a perfectly placed ball from the half that landed at the feet Derek Gebhard, who was able to slot it into the net from an extremely tight angle. With five minutes left in regular time, Toronto II once again found the equalizer. Kobe Franklin notches his first goal for the away side to snag a point on the road, a very important point for TFC II’s playoff race. Madison has another home game on Saturday, when the Flamingos welcome North Texas SC to Breese Stevens Field. TFC II is off until August 27, when the Young Reds will return to action at home against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
