York United FC Signs Defender Dominick Zator

Toronto, ON (February 1, 2021) – York United Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing
of Canadian defender Dominick Zator on a two-year deal.

Widely acknowledged as one of the finest centre-backs in the Canadian Premier League,
the 26-year-old - a native of Calgary - spent the last two seasons with his hometown side Cavalry FC.
Racking up 47 appearances and over 4000 minutes, his consistently impressive performances also
ensured a call-up to the Canadian senior squad in late-2019.

In what's been a busy off-season recruitment drive for the organization, Zator joins Chrisnovic N'sa
and Ryan Lindsay as the new defensive arrivals.

“I think Dom is a phenomenal addition to the roster and we are delighted to welcome him to the club,"
says Angus McNab, York United's CEO/President & GM.

"He’s really been a stand-out performer in the league and I honestly feel we are all very fortunate
that he’s chosen to continue his career here at York United.”

McNab believes the club offers Zator the perfect environment to harness his international objectives.

“I want to see as many squad members as possible involved in the international game. Dom has had
a taste with Canada before but is still to get his first cap. It’s our job as a club to provide
the opportunity, environment and consistency that players need to perform. If Dom performs then
opportunity will come his way.”

For Zator, it just made sense: the team, the timing and, most importantly, how much the club wanted him.

"I was speaking with Angus and there was a plan set forth for me," he says.

"It's always exciting to be part of something new and I'm looking forward to it. With the rebrand,
it looks great. It was the right move at the right time in my career to take that next step.
It's about seeing if you can adapt to new changes and if you can succeed in a different environment
and having those conversations with Angus resonated with me. I'm excited to be part
of the York United family."

"In the end I'm following my heart. I believe this is the right move and I'm ready to give everything
I have for York United."

With former captain Luca Gasparotto announcing his retirement late last year, it left a substantial
defensive hole. But McNab is excited by the recent signings and the depth that now exists within the squad.

“Replacing someone like Luca, who has been the ultimate Iron Man at this club and played every minute
of our professional existence, is a very difficult challenge," he admits.

"But I think the additions of the N’Sa brothers, Ryan Lindsay and Dom are massive and with Abzi and Rog
back with the squad we have a great group. Jordan Wilson has also played centre back quite a bit
so offers us cover there too.”
