York United FC Loans Newly Signed Defender Dominick Zator to Swedish club Vasalunds IF

Toronto, ON (February 2, 2021) - York United Football Club can confirm defender Dominick Zator
has joined Swedish side Vasalunds IF on a short-term loan.

The 26-year-old Calgary native will return in the summer.

The Stockholm-based club enjoyed a superb season in 2020, which culminated in promotion
to the second tier after an 11-year hiatus. Their domestic campaign gets underway in April
but a litany of pre-season friendlies began last weekend with an eye-catching 2-0 victory
over giants AIK at the country's national stadium.

With a lengthy Canadian Premier League off-season, York United FC President/CEO & GM Angus McNab
believes it's crucial to provide Zator with an environment where he gets to play regularly,
especially with the centre-back so keen to return to the national team setup.

“When recruiting Dom, I promised to do everything in my power to help with his aim of getting
back in the senior Canadian squad," McNab says.

"Right now, the way we can do that is by making sure he’s playing games of a high standard
and making sure he has opportunities to showcase what he can do. Dom can play 11-15 games
between now and returning to us - that’s of great benefit to him and our club because we’ll have
a player rejoining in peak form.”

“I’d also like to pay special thanks to Vasalunds IF and their Sporting Director, Chengis Rehman.
They have been fantastic to deal with and we know they will be taking great care of Dom in Sweden.
He’s got an opportunity now to show what he can do over there.”

Rehman, meanwhile, is enthused by the deal and can't wait to see Zator on the pitch.

“We are delighted to work with Angus and York United Football Club to secure this loan," he says.

"Dominick is a very talented defender and we are happy that he was so willing to travel to Sweden
and represent our team.”

Next up for Vasalunds is a clash with 2019 Swedish champions and historical heavyweights
Djurgardens IF next week, a game Zator is hoping to play some part in.

"This loan played a pretty significant factor (in moving to York United) because it gives me
the opportunity to play extra games and the biggest thing for players is playing as many games
as you can in a year," he says.

"With what's happening around the world, there are different ways we have to adapt and fortunately
I'm able to make this step forward to Sweden - which is crucial for the (Canadian) national team
and things like that."
