YORK UNITED FC LOANS MATEO HERNÁNDEZ TO ATLÉTICO PANTOJA
Toronto, ON (May 12, 2021) – York United Football Club can confirm attacking midfielder
Mateo Hernández has joined Atlético Pantoja on loan until the end of the year.

The 22-year-old Argentine, who signed for York United last October, will link up with team-mate
and compatriot Lisandro Cabrera at the Dominican Republic club who were in CONCACAF Champions League
action against Mexican heavyweights Monterrey just last month.

"The pandemic has made things very challenging for our entire playing group and coaching staff,"
says Angus McNab, CEO/President & GM.

"We are a club centred entirely around our players and when making loan decisions we focus only
on the best situation for their individual development. The long-term benefits to us are too important.
This loan gives Mateo the opportunity to play football at a time when we face uncertainty regarding
a return to training, as well as with his own visa process. He has a chance to test himself
again ahead of joining up with us."

A native of Santa Fe, Hernández faced some of Argentina's biggest clubs during his time with
Superliga side Club Atlético Colón, including Banfield and Argentinos Juniors, and also boasts
Copa Sudamericana experience.

"I'd like to thank Ramses Santana and the management at Pantoja for working with us on this move
for Mateo," McNab adds.

"They have taken excellent care of Lisandro and when they came to speak to us about Mateo it was
an easy decision given our experience working with them. Having Lisandro and Mateo play together
was hugely attractive for me. They actually know each other from back home in Argentina and
are excited to be reunited ahead of coming to Canada."
