Broadcaster OneSoccer awarded 'Man of the Match' to Marco Bustos for his two goals. He tied, then took the lead as the CPL all-time scoring leader (15 goals). Tristan Borges on Forge FC held the record until today. Borges was overseas in 2020 so I expect them to duel during the course of the season. Borges gets an immediate chance tomorrow. This were fans in the stands again today. The ones that were showcased though were the parents of Marco Bustos. They wouldn't have to travel far because from what was said they live in Winnipeg which was the city where their son was raised. He played here in 2019 for Valour FC before signing with Pacific FC. I would expect this was less than Wednesday night as Valour plays on Sunday and the today's previous game of the matinee was HFX Wanderers beating FC Edmonton for their first win of the season and the last game of the 'once around' between the East vs West teams. The Pacific vs York game was the first of the second pass (fifth game for each team). This game was nearly over within the first 8 minutes with Pacific scoring their second goal. While York had come from behind in their game against FC Edmonton after giving up a goal at four minutes, this game with an improvised backline, the best they could do was try to prevent further damage. Forward Ijah Halley played at right back with ironman defender Dominick Zator, who'd played 90 minutes in each of their previous four games, not even make the subs bench. Chrisnovic N'sa is the only player left who has played full minutes this season. York head coach Jimmy Brennan said after the game that both Zator and captain/defender Roger Thompson both were out with quad injuries and was not certain when they will return to the line-up. York had Niko Giantsopoulos start his second game in a row after he helped them get their first win of the year on Wednesday. He made no mistakes today but the coach may rotate the goalie's for the next game. Ex-Pacific midfielder Noah Verhoeven was an unused sub for York today. Ex-York midfielder Manny Aparacio did not even make the bench for Pacific. Pacific dominated possession at 61% overall but just over 70% in the first half where York had a hard time getting hold of the ball. The win moves Pacific to first in the eight team league with a record of 3 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie for 10 points. The loss drops York's record to 1 win, 2 losses, and 2 ties for 5 points although that position may drop with two more games to play this weekend. York's next game is Wednesday the 14th against Cavalry FC. These teams met on the first weekend of the season (which was only June 27th) with Cavalry winning 2-1.
