A SPECIAL NIGHT AHEAD AS YORK UNITED BOAST RECORD TICKET NUMBERS FOR FORGE FC CLASH The side play
their 2021 home opener on Friday at 7pm. It promises to be a memorable night at York Lions Stadium on Friday. York United FC President/CEO & GM, Angus McNab has announced that the Canadian Premier League fixture against Forge FC - the club's 2021 season home opener - will see record numbers in attendance. "It will be the record number of paid tickets the club has ever sold," McNab says. "We’re now less than 100 seats from a sellout at our Covid capacity, which sits at about 2,400. We’re very, very close. We’d certainly encourage any fans still looking to attend the event to go online and purchase tickets now." "This is a great endorsement of the work put in by everyone in the front office over the past few months. And we owe a special word of thanks to a number of businesses, partners and sponsors throughout the community who have rolled account credits into community donations of tickets and we’ll be having a number of soccer clubs from the York Region and the GTA attending the game. In addition, there are a number of individual season ticket members who have also donated tickets and we thank all of them for that." Kick-off is 7pm (gates will open at 5.30) and there is a genuine anticipation ahead of kick-off. With supporters returning to the stands, the stadium itself having undergone a substantial renovation and the team finishing their eight-game 'bubble' in Winnipeg with victory over Edmonton FC last weekend, everything points to a pretty special evening on the horizon. "Football is about fans,"says McNab. "Returning to home market with fans in stands is something we've all been looking forward to for a long time. I can't wait for it. And I know that the players, Jimmy and his staff are the exact same."
