Attendance was not announced. I did a double take a week ago when I saw the starting time. 6:00pm on a weeknight? I could see because of time zones that Halifax fans would like it because it would be 7:00pm to them and makes early watching. Toronto folks though? There are many fans who work until 6:00pm or get out earlier but are caught in downtown traffic and picking up the kids on the way here would not be possible. I looked on the OneSoccer schedule and found that Forge were hosting a home game starting at 8:00pm against Atletico Ottawa. No rush on a press conference here as the cameras had already cut away to show the other game. That game was in Hamilton which may carve away another few CPL fans living just west of Toronto as it would be easier to get to Hamilton in the extra time available. Can't be at two stadiums at once. This was only York's third home game of the season and only their second league game. In some secret draw they will play their next round of the Canadian Championship at BMO Field (one game round this Covid shortened season) so there will be some more revenue lost. I was expecting the stadium would start out near empty and fill in as the game went on and that is what did happen although I'd say their numbers ended up less than Saturday against League1 Onrario opposition which many fans would not know who they were. If they eventually announce 1000, I will easily believe that. As both coaches said at the press conference it was a game of two halfs with HFX getting the better of play in the second half. York rotated their goalies this game after using Nathan Ingham on Saturday who had just returned from an injury. There's no argument that Niko Giantsopoulos could not have played a better game tonight. The weather was hot and humid even at this early evening starting time. At the press conference HFX Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare answered me that he had in fact played in hotter weather!--just Saturday their team was playing in Hamilton at 4:00pm so it was as bad. Only thing hotter than today's weather is tomorrow's weather when it will set another record for the heat wave we're having. A water break was scheduled for each half before the game started. I thought Morey Doner looked extra inspired playing against his old team and bombing up and down the wing. Gagnon-Lapare was on the other wing doing the same thing. A new player has arrived on-loan from Vancouver Whitecaps and was on the bench tonight. Matteo Campagna is a defender and coach Brennan has plans for him immediately especially with Roger Thompson still out injured. York didn't have time to take advantage of being up a man with Eriks Santos earning a straight Red card at 91 minutes. York's Chrisnovic N'Sa was injured on the play and had to leave the field after the trainer came out. I didn't see that he even got back on the field before the final whistle. York had won 3-2 against HFX in Halifax on August 7th, the only other time this season the two teams have met. York's next game is Saturday against Forge FC in Hamilton at 4:00pm. Forge beat Atletico Ottawa 4-0 starting just a few minutes after the York game ended. Forge ripped open a five point gap between themselves in the fourth and final playoff spot with 22 points in 13 games and York with 17 points in 13 games. Actually I'd put Forge ahead of Valour FC who also have 22 points but have played one more game but the league lists them in third.
