Music for a tie? Well it wasn't "1963, Oh What A Night" by The Four Seasons but "Mr Brightside" by The Killers.
This may have been random to match their pre game and halftime playlist so I'll have to wait for another game.

Attendance was not announced and it looked bad. The weather reports had it scheduled to rain
every hour even though we'd had a lot of rain overnight.  It held off until just before halftime
then continued for an hour after the game ended.  It was never a heavy rain but just annoying.

The game also had to compete with the MLS Toronto FC game which was taking place at BMO Field
starting at 4:00pm.  That was less than an hour after this game ended so I expect no fans
would take in both games today as it's too far to get downtown, parked, and through security
before the game was well underway.  I expect it also effected the reporting on the game as
there were no 'Zoom call' questions at the post game press conference.  That might keep the
Toronto media away but I don't understand why there wouldn't be any Halifax area journalists
asking questions. 

OneSoccer broadcast the game of course but they were squeezed because the LOSC game with
Jonathan David scoring at 95 minutes was still playing at 1:00pm.  The game did start
at 11 minutes after the hour OK but they probably just cut the pre game banter. The game
ended and they immediately cut away to their match of the week with Forge vs Atletico Ottawa.
I don't know where the post game press conference footage will go or if it will ever be shown.

HFX decided to rest the league's leading scorer Joao Morelli only bringing him off the bench
at 88 minutes.  HFX head coach Stephen Hart said after the game that they'd been playing
a lot of midweek games so he was held out of this game.  They also played their number one 
goalie Christian Oxner in place of Kieran Baskett who earned a shutout last time HFX were 
here two weeks ago.  

Two of York's foreign players scored the goals today.  Spanish forward Alvaro Rivero scored
his sixth goal of the season in league play to take over the team lead by one over Diyaeddine Abzi.
German forward Julian Ulbricht scored his second of the season to earn his team the point.
Columbian forward Sebastian Gutierrez headed one in at 82 minutes from 1 yard stepping into 
a cornerkick but that was called back by referee Carly Shaw-MacLaren for bumping into goalie 
Christian Oxner.  Oxner was injured on the play.  

It is good to see York's foreign contingient catching on and getting the playing time after
mostly being used as late substitutions at the beginning of the season.  Finally we can
understand why they are here!  

The referee game out five Yellow cards today, four going to York.  

York also had a flurry at 86 minutes with three shots into the 6 yard box and ended up winning
a cornerkick.  York had an advantage in cornerkicks at 11 to 2. There second goal was off
a corner that had so many players crash the box that the ball was knocked off its moorings. 

Midfielder Max Ferrari continued his streak of starting every game this season for York. 
He was less dominant in this game as he was often double teamed or closed down quickly. 
Today that just gave Diyaeddine Abzi more space to run down the wing and get away shots. 

Michael Petrasso played the entire 90 minutes on the wing for York.  With his injuries,
he started the season on the bench, then gradually became a starter with maybe a 60 minute
ceiling so to see him be a threat the entire 90 minutes is very encouraging. His brother
Luca had scored his first of the year for Toronto FC II of USL Leageue One on Friday afternoon
and his family members watching that game said they'd be here today. 

This was another incredibly important game in the standings just like last week.  I thought
York's win last Sunday opened up a lot of space in the table but York was one of only two teams
that didn't play a midweek game because their opponents, Forge FC, continue to do so well
in CONCACAF League play.  Forge were down in Panama winning 2-0 despite playing with ten
men the entire second half.  HFX won on Wednesday night and closed to within one point 
of York in the standings.  HFX with a win would bump York out of the fourth and final 
playoff spot with each teams playing 21 games.  A win for either team would have
jumped them up to third for a few hours until Forge would defeat Atletico Ottawa to pull
further ahead of York and HFX and close to one point behind second place Cavalry with
one game in hand. 

The last four games between these two teams have been ties.  The rest of the league
loves it as this adds up to one dropped point to divy up every game. 

York's record improves to 7 wins, 9 ties, 5 losses for 30 points.  HFX improves to 7 wins,
8 ties, 6 losses for 29 points.  York keeps HFX at bay for now but uses up one of their
home games.  Their next game is Friday October 8th against last place Atletico Ottawa and 
will end their five game home stand.  Their record after this afternoon has been two wins,
two ties (both were against HFX), and no losses.
