Attendance was not announced but looked like it could be among the best of the season and not just because of the travelling Forge fans. The stat was eventually listed as 1126. The weather was cold with a slight breeze and a hazy sun. This was a game where York controlled their own destiny. A win today would clinch the fourth and final playoff spot for them and the other games of later today and tomorrow wouldn't bump them out of their position. When the schedule first came out, all the games on what would have been the last weekend of the season were all going to be played today and at exactly the same time. I don't know how OneSoccer would have handled it as they only have a limited amount of commentators unless they used a 'command centre' approach. With all the rescheduling Forge FC have three more games scheduled after this weekend which could effect some teams. Also having all the games at once leaves the rest of the weekend as no reason to tune in as the results are known. Nope spread them out is what I'd have said too. York came out strong in first half. Both Jordan Wilson and head coach Jimmy Brennan said at the post game press conference that they lost a step in the second half and regret they didn't put them away in the first. So with York losing they have to wait for results the rest of the weekend. Today by the time I got home after the press conference Valour were losing 3-0 against last place FC Edmonton but Valour came back to tie 3-3 on the road. Impressive but that was their last game of the season so they finish one point back of York. Now the worry is tomorrow HFX Wanderers host a game against against Atletico Ottawa and must win or they give fourth place to York without York having to win against Forge on Tuesday night. The Forge win today means they host their semi-final match. If they win on Tuesday or either of their remaining games, they will host the CPL Final too if they win their semi-final.
