‘We’re indebted to you all’: a letter to fans from President/CEO & GM Angus McNab
OCTOBER 25, 2021

The current campaign is entering its final days and on November 1st we will be launching
our season seat memberships for 2022.

This past year has certainly been a unique one.

The compressed schedule has been extremely challenging for the players and staff but
the support from you – our dedicated fans – has been nothing short of spectacular.
We are incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done, particularly given the range
of peculiarities: an eight-game start in Winnipeg, the extended wait for a home opener,
a variety of schedule changes and, of course, the abundance of new mandated measures
due to Covid-19.

In 2022 we look forward to the regular season reverting to an April-October window,
which offers you at least 15 home fixtures.

Game-day logistics have been deeply affected by Covid-19 restrictions but the club
continues to work with York University to greatly enhance the York Lions Stadium
experience in a way we have not been able to in 2021. In addition to our front office
staff dedicating their time to improving the overall ‘event’ feel of home matches,
I am looking forward to meeting with our supporters’ clubs in the coming weeks to listen,
learn and help build this community together.

Regarding current plans, the club is happy to restate our commitment
to a terraced/safe-standing section in the South End of the stadium. Meanwhile, we are
also looking at superior premium/hospitality for 2022 and hoping that our immensely
supportive local businesses will continue to back us on that front. There is
a substantial potency to how live sport drives real-time interaction and engagement.
It’s by-appointment and in the moment. Considering so much of our lives is now
‘on-demand’, there continues to be a powerful immediacy to attending a sports event
in person. So, our goal continues to be the creation of a compelling York United space
for all club stakeholders: fans, commercial partners and numerous other allies.

To reward all current members, those who have committed to our 3-year plan will see
no increases in price for 2022 or 2023. And you can still sign up right now to lock
a current season seat membership before a slight price adjustment comes into effect
from November 1st.

Once again, we’re indebted to you all. It’s been a special season with plenty of football
still to be played and the team pushing hard for the playoffs. Your contribution to that
has been immeasurable.

Now, let’s go big for our last two home games of the season – a double-header against
our local rivals Forge FC on the 6th and 9th November – and secure our place
in the final four.

Come on you Nine Stripes,

Gus.
