PAUL STALTERI DEPARTS YORK UNITED FC
The Canadian legend joins Major League Soccer side Toronto FC as Assistant Coach.

York United FC can confirm Paul Stalteri has left his role as Assistant Coach to take up a similar
position with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC.

Arriving at The Nine Stripes in February 2020, the Canadian legend has had an enormous impact
on the club, particularly regarding the development of the team's blossoming young talent.

At The Island Games tournament, teenagers like Max Ferrari, Lowell Wright and Isaiah Johnston
all got their first taste of professional action and that trust in young players grew exponentially
in 2021. With Stalteri providing detailed technical nous and offering invaluable expertise gleaned
from an elite playing career that saw a German league and cup double with Werder Bremen, Premier League
spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham as well as a famous Gold Cup success with Canada, the group's
underage crop enjoyed a breakout year.

Ferrari was short-listed for the Canadian Premier League's U-21 Player of the Year award, Wright
finished the campaign as York United's joint top-scorer and Johnston was a revelation in central
midfield. In total, the club's Under-21 minutes totalled over 9,000 with the league requirement 1,500.
Incredibly, both Ferrari and Johnston managed to smash that figure themselves.

“Paul has been great to work with these past two years," says Angus McNab, York United's CEO/President
& GM.

"I’ve loved the conversations that we’ve had and he’s going to be a huge asset to Bob [Bradley]
and Toronto FC. I think the path Paul has taken in his coaching career means that this is a great
next step. He’s worked with youth players, Canada Soccer’s national team programs, ourselves and now
moves on to MLS as a very good coach. We wish him every success and thank him for his contribution
to the club.”

"It’s always difficult whenever you move on but I’ve especially enjoyed my time with York United
and everything that we’ve achieved here," Stalteri says.

"Watching so many young Canadian players grow and develop so rapidly has been thrilling and I have
no doubt that they can continue all the way to the very top of this game: for both club and country.
Making the playoffs last season is a jumping-off point for this group and they will only get stronger.
Their will to win is second to none."

"I’d like to thank everyone at the organization for making my time there such a wonderful experience
over the the past two years: the Baldassarra family, Angus McNab, the front office staff, the backroom
team and, of course, all of the players I’ve had the pleasure of working with."

"Finally, to the supporters. It was always so lovely to see the diversity of the fanbase during games:
families, friends catching up and hanging out, our hardcore guys driving us on, so many kids proudly
wearing our colours. The organic way it’s grown and developed has been very special. I’m one of you now
so I’m looking forward to returning soon and watching with interest from the stands."
