'WE WANT TO WIN. IT'S GONNA BE AN ENJOYABLE YEAR': MAX FERRARI ON A NEW GAFFER
AND AN AMBITIOUS LOCKER ROOM

After a magnificent 2021 campaign, the winger is excited by what's ahead.

After an astonishing 2021 campaign which culminated in a nomination for Canadian Premier League
U-21 Player of the Year, you'd be forgiven for thinking Max Ferrari is enjoying the off-season
and taking a well-deserved rest.

But, the hard work never stops and his attention is already laser-focused on what's ahead.

Speaking to Peter Galindo and Thomas Nef on the latest episode of the Northern Fútbol podcast,
Ferrari discussed a wide range of topics, including the appointment of Martin Nash as the club's
new Head Coach.

"I'm very excited to work with Martin," Ferrari began.

"I talked to him briefly and he's an amazing guy. He told me what he sees in me. Between everyone
at the club, we want to win. It's about that direct impact. He wants to help us, he wants to win
championships and overall I think it's just very exciting. I want to learn as much as I can to make
my game better. So bringing in these new faces - a new Gaffer, these exciting players with really
good pedigree at such a young age, it's really exciting for this year. On the field we might look
like a close group but off the field we're even closer. It's gonna be an enjoyable year, I think."

Throughout last season, Ferrari built up a steady string of admirers and his reputation grew
consistently with each lung-bursting performance. Ultimately, he lost out on the U-21 award but
he's quick to point out that the culture at York United is one where individual success comes second
to team triumph.

"I was never thinking of the U-21 award, it was never in my head," Ferrari said.

"Going into the first game, I wasn't even supposed to start but due to an injury, I got that chance
and proved myself. But at York, it's not about the individual stuff. For us, we want to win. We proved
a lot of people wrong last season. That was our mindset. A lot of people thought we were gonna finish
in last place."

"I think everyone involved has the same goals: on and off the field. We pushed each other. And our vets
had a lot to do with it: Mike Petrasso, Zator, Giantsopoulos, Thompson: these guys pushed us everyday.
As young guys you need that. We were extremely satisfied to make the playoffs but we want more and we were
very disappointed to lose in the semifinals because we felt there was something in that game for us.
Going into the 2022 season, we're excited. It's an ambitious locker room."
