YORK UNITED FC ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF AZRIEL GONZALEZ
The 20-year-old will be immediately loaned to FC Edmonton.

York United FC today confirmed the signing of United States midfielder Azriel Gonzalez on a one-year deal,
plus club options.

The 20-year-old will be immediately loaned to FC Edmonton for the 2022 season.

Gonzalez is certainly familiar with the club, having featured 17 times in all competitions - 14 of them
in the starting lineup - for the Eddies in the 2021 campaign, on loan from USL Championship side
Tacoma Defiance. He delivered some eye-catching performances in the Canadian Premier League and found
the net five times, adding a further three assists.

With Tacoma, Gonzalez started out in 2017 and accumulated 85 appearances across five seasons, racking
up an incredibly impressive 15 goals and 13 assists. His early underage career was spent
in the Seattle Sounders academy.

“Azriel was a standout performer on FC Edmonton last season and his data from Tacoma is also really
impressive," says York United CEO/President & GM Angus McNab.

"It made a lot of sense for us to keep him in the CPL and loan him over to FC Edmonton. This allows him
to continue to progress in an environment he’s familiar with and I think with him being there from
the start of the year and not arriving mid-season that we’ll see even more from him.”
