THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN: MINATEL FEELS PERFORMANCE CAN HELP BUILD ELECTRIC HOME ATMOSPHERE

The attacker scored his first goal for the club in Friday's 2-0 win over Cavalry FC.

Striker Oliver Minatel hopes last Friday's performance which resulted in the convincing 2-0 win
over Calvary FC can help build an electric atmosphere at York Lions Stadium this season.

The Nine Stripes produced a heart-on-the-sleeves display to nail the Cavs, who put up a brave fight.

Minatel, playing against his former teammates, rose to glance York United in front in the 35th minute.

Midfielder Isaiah Johnston whipped in a perfectly-weighted cross from the right and the Brazilian
directed it to the far corner with an expertly-judged diving header that floated to the net.

"Of course we have to use our home advantage," Minatel told reporters after the game.

Minatel scored his very first goal for the club on Friday, expertly teed up by Isaiah Johnston's
inch-perfect cross.

"That's going to be a big thing for us. And if we can get as many people out here to support us
as well, it's going to be important. We have another big game against [Atletico] Ottawa - direct rivals
in the fight for the top four - and hopefully this one also brings more people out."

The 29-year-old also dedicated his first goal for the club to fellow countryman Joao Morelli who
suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury last week.

Morelli , a crucial player for HFX Wanderers, was the 2021 CPL top-scorer with 14 goals and Minatel
believes his presence will be greatly missed.

"This goal I dedicate to Joao," Mintael confirmed.

"He's a good friend of mine in Halifax and as we all know, he's out for the season. It's always sad
to see players with this type of injury so I dedicate this goal to him and obviously my family
and my close friends - they're always with me and supporting me so they know this is something special
for them."
