York United FC announces signing of Australian forward Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio
2022-07-06
York United FC can confirm the signing of Australian forward Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio.

The 20-year-old arrives after spending the last number of years with A-League side Melbourne Victory.
In total, he accumulated 24 appearances in all competitions, including five in the AFC Champions League
back in 2020 when the Victory reached the Round of 16.

Lawrie-Lattanzio has signed until the end of the 2022 season, with a club option for 2023.

After making a name for himself in the country’s Youth League in 2019/20 and earning himself a number
of individual accolades – including the Golden Boot – Lawrie-Lattanzio was promoted to the Victory’s
first-team squad and made his debut as an 18-year-old in an A-League clash with Western United.
Later that season, there was a Champions League debut against Beijing Guoan when he came off the bench
and assisted on the Victory’s consolation goal in a 3-1 loss. In total, his first campaign resulted
in 10 appearances and three assists.

The following season, Lawrie-Lattanzio made a dozen appearances for the team and enjoyed a memorable
moment in February, 2021 when he grabbed his first senior goal against Brisbane Roar. In 2022,
his contributions were restricted though Melbourne Victory did claim a second-ever FFA Cup
(Australia’s domestic cup competition) with a win over Central Coast Mariners at the beginning
of the year. Most recently, he spent some time with NPL club Campbelltown City.

Lawrie-Lattanzio also boasts underage experience, having represented Australia at the Under-17 World Cup
in 2019.

The Adelaide native – who can play as a winger or as a central attacker – is excited to make the move
and follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Tass Mourdoukoutas, whose signing was announced last month.

“I feel so privileged & thrilled to be able to sign with this amazing club,” says Lawrie-Lattanzio.

“I’m looking forward to representing The Nine Stripes and getting to meet our amazing supporters that
I’ve heard so much about. See you all soon!”

Angus McNab, York United FC President/CEO & GM, believes Lawrie-Lattanzio can provide versatility
and energy to the Nine Stripes’ attack.

“For a young man, Luis had already had some great experiences,” he says.

“He’s played for his country at the U-17 World Cup in Brazil and has made appearances in both
the A-League and Asian Champions League for Melbourne. He’s a player we feel offers something a little
different from our current forward and wing options. Luis is genuinely two-footed and I think he can
have a real impact on the CPL.”
