VALOUR COME INTO VIEW AS THE NINE STRIPES LOOK TO MAKE IT THREE WINS IN THEIR LAST FOUR GAMES

York United are in Winnipeg today and looking for their first win of the season against the hosts.

York United are without a win against Valour FC in the 2022 Canadian Premier League so there’s plenty
of motivation to break the jinx this afternoon at IG Field.

The Nine Stripes have been buoyed by last week’s comprehensive victory on the road at HFX Wanderers
where they had a hatful of goals and good performance.

There’s renewed determination and confidence is sky-high to replicate that performance in Winnipeg.

The last time York United won back-to-back games was back in September last when they accounted
for Forge and Atletico Ottawa.

Head Coach Martin Nash knows they can't afford to drop the bar this time.

"We’re asking the players to have that same commitment and performance week-in, week-out now,"
the Gaffer said at his pre-match conference on Friday.

"We had that blip with the Ottawa performance in between the two Cavalry and Wanderers wins,
where the performance wasn’t terrible but we just gave away two silly penalties. But we’ve been
focusing on who we are and how we want to play the game. It’s all about us right now, not so much
the opponent."

Valour have three wins at home this season including last Wednesday’s 2-0 over Calvary FC.

Phil Dos Santos’ side have also drawn twice and lost three times in front of their home fans.

Nash continued: "They are a very good team. They're trying to make the playoff push like all
of us that are outside the top four so it's a massive game for both teams.

"They're a very good side going forward. They’ve got good size, set pieces and they've got
a little bit of everything to be honest, so they're dangerous. We are pretty well-prepared
and it's going to be a good test."

Outside of the long-term casualties, York United have a clean bill of health and the return
of Isaiah Johnston after a two-game suspension should give the technical team some selection headaches.

OPPONENT WATCH:

Valour FC are placed fifth on the CPL table but are ranked 4th in the goals scored per match (1.5 goals).

Defender Andy Baquero is suspended after picking up a yellow card in the last match against Calvary.

Brace-hero Moses Dyer has the most shots on target per match for Valour and should be the danger man.
