Final Score:...York United FC........0........HFX Wanderers FC.........0........

Attendance wasn't announced but it looked like about the same as their other games which will mean
they will report just over 1000. Their theme tonight was it was their 'Second Annual Mental Health
and Advocacy Day'. The group had a special canopy in the stands giving out information. I saw
a lost opportunity as another possible 'Student Night' game was missed...they could have had both
as themes. I didn't notice an increase in York University students. One more home game completes
their home date schedule.

The 900 section (behind the south goal) had more traffic with the return of the funnel cake truck, a tent
for Go-Go Squeeze fruit beverages, and Steam Whistle Brewery, besides the team's swag tent and Sharman's
Proper Pies.

There were players missing this game from both teams besides the injured ones. HFX were without
Marcello Polisi and fullback Zach Fernandez who has played the most minutes this season for the club.
Injuries kept Peter Schaale, Mour Samb, and Aidan Daniels out for tonight.

York was without their leading scorer Osaze De Rosario who has 11 league goals (12 overall) and became
York's all time leading scorer after less than a full season behind him. I remember DeRo picking up
a Yellow card on a tackle one minute after scoring last week and wondering if that was his fourth or
eighth and whether he'd miss this game.

I see York being more effected because De Rosario has almost half the team's goals. Without him
they only had one shot on net. Mo Babouli took over second in team scoring with four by scoring twice
in the last game. I got a sense of deja-vu as if this was a time earlier in the season where the
team couldn't score. The game stats show them only having one shot on net.

York forward Austin Ricci suffered a season ending injury months ago and he was in the broadcast booth
today providing colour commentary for the radio broadcast. He said he could play before the broadcast
started so that's promising.

Referee Seyed-Mohammad Mohseni gave out six Yellow cards tonight starting with the first two to York
at 8 and 11 minutes but then the rest to HFX all in the second half and three in the last ten minutes.

New CPL commissioner Mark Noonan was here tonight and helped present Dominick Zator with a framed
#100 York United jersey. Zator said at the post game press conference tonight was his 102nd appearance
but I suspect it takes them a few weeks to prepare.

HFX players arrived in a purple coloured Western University bus. That's the last one I expected to
see unless the school's football team were having a home game this weekend. (schedule shows they
have the weekend off). On the return the bus had been switched to the Rayside-Balfour (NOJHL)
hockey team. (had to look that up that it was in the Sudbury area. Now that made sense as the
hockey season hasn't started up yet so this coach rental would help make money. I expect these
coaches would have brought and returned them to the airport.

That York will miss the playoffs won't be remembered for tonight but the early-midseason games
when the had nine league games without a win. York loses their season series to HFX with a home
loss on April 7th (0-1), another loss June 4th in HFX by 1-0, a 4-2 win by York in Halifax
on August 1st, then tonight's tie. Both HFX wins were with identical scores and the goals were
both Penalty kicks. HFX have been 10 for 10 from the spot this season. It would have been justice
for York to earn a Penalty kick tonight if not for knockdowns but from handball calls but none were
made.

York's record 'improves' in 25 games to 8 wins, 6 ties, 11 losses for 30 points. That keeps them
in sixth place one above HFX and brings them within 6 points of both Pacific and Valour holding
down the fourth and fifth spots. Four teams make the playoffs.

HFX Wanderers' record 'improves' in 25 games to 8 wins, 5 ties, 12 losses for 29 points. That keeps them
in seventh. It means FC Edmonton finishes eighth in the table with four games to go.

As this was the first game of the weekend, both York and HFX can be eliminated from the playoff race
depending on how results go with the six teams ahead of them.
