FREEDOM AND CONFIDENCE THE KEY SAYS NASH AFTER FIFTH WIN IN SEVEN GAMES

The Nine Stripes are in superb form as the playoff race continues to intrigue.

Head Coach Martin Nash says he is not putting pressure on his players to seal a postseason spot
after Friday’s resplendent 3-1 win over Valour FC revived their push campaign.

Once again talisman Mo Babouli put in a typified performance which earned him the man of the match award.

His stupendous leveller set the tone for the come-from-behind victory.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Nash said: "I thought we started well and obviously they got
a goal early on the counter attack. But for the most part I was really pleased with how we played.
I thought we ended the half quite well and I thought we were excellent for most of the second half.
So, the players deserve a lot of credit for that mentality we talked about before the game.
And I felt [it] was brilliant from the start, and it was really good performance."

York United are four points off the fourth-place spot and are still in the hunt to sneak through,
just like last season when other results went their way right at the death.

"As a staff, we're not trying to put pressure on them," Nash added.

"We’re saying go out there and play and put your impression on the game. We're talking about
needing points, wanting points. But, just go out there and play free, but within our structure.
We give them a bit of freedom and give them the confidence and we're playing well. We just need
to keep going now."

The Nine Stripes managed seven points from the three-match homestand which speaks volumes of their
second half of the season.

Nash believes the calibre of performance against Phil Dos Santos’ side will continue in their two
remaining fixtures (away to Forge FC on 1st October and away to Atletico Ottawa on 9th October)
as the race for the postseason spot continues to intrigue.

"It [the win over Valour] hopefully just gives us confidence and, for me and the staff, it's about
keeping their mentality where it is because I think it's been great for the second half of the season
especially. We've been on a good run and there's no reason why that run can't continue. So it's just
all about confidence, mentality and for us to keep going," said The Gaffer.
