NUMBER CRUNCH: YORK UNITED THE BEST CPL TEAM IN PAST TWO MONTHS

In the last 12 games, The Nine Stripes have picked up seven wins and 22 points.

When you crunch the details, the evidence is pretty damning.

York United FC are the best team in the CPL right now and that form has extended over the past two months.

Short-term, the run has been especially magnificent: four wins and a draw from their last six league
fixtures for a tally of 13 points from a possible 18. They're also the leading scorers for the period
too, finding the net 12 times.

But stretch out the research even further and the same picture emerges. From mid-July onwards,
The Nine Stripes have rebounded superbly from the injury crisis that decimated their squad and required
major reconstructive surgery.

From their last dozen games, York United have amassed seven victories, racked up 22 points
and scored 22 times to leave them out in front at the top of the form table.

And what makes the stats so impressive is that the squad changed so dramatically once the transfer
window officially opened at the beginning of July, requiring a bunch of new acquisitions to hit the
ground running and gel immediately, in the hope that the bleeding could be stemmed and an onslaught mounted.

The likes of Australian pair Tass Mourdoukoutas and Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio, wingers Kevin Dos Santos
and Ronan Kratt and full-back Paris Gee have all played their parts, while Mo Babouli has managed five
goals and two assists in his seven appearances so far.

The playoffs remain a possibility and should Martin Nash's side make it to the Promised Land, no side
will want to face them.
