March 25, 2023...York United FC vs Simcoe County Rovers (by Rocket Robin)

The Saturday March 25, 2023 pre-season game between CPL York United FC and L1O Simcoe County Rovers to be played at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan at 10:30am was cancelled as told to me by York captain Roger Thompson on Monday because they were suffering with about six injuries. SCR was certainly told earlier to save them the 70 km drive from Barrie. The York players showed up. The indoor facility was hosting some youth games including one started just one hour before the CPL vs L1O game was to start so it looked like they would have played outdoors...today had 70km winds and we were in the middle of 20mm of scheduled rain. Maybe that rules out even a practice session.

Next weekend York has a game against Forge FC in Hamilton and finish the weekend after against L1O Alliance United. The AU head coach Ilya Orlov has been doing some work for York so benefits with pre-scouting the York team.

In the parking lot I said hello to Chris Pozniak (former Toronto Lynx/Toronto FC player) who said he continues to do work for TFC Academy. He should have a good day inside as I saw a lot of kids wearing team jackets with the crests of local teams from Whitby, Burlington etc. News earlier this week I read that the Academy just graduated four of their older players to TFC II for this season including goalie Adisa De Rosario.
