Emma Regan Named First Captain in AFC Toronto History Toronto, ON (April 17, 2025) – AFC Toronto is proud to announce that midfielder Emma Regan has been named the club’s first-ever captain ahead of its inaugural Northern Super League season. “Emma is a natural choice to wear the armband,” said Marko Milanovic, Head Coach of AFC Toronto. “She leads by example in every sense—on the field, in the locker room, and in the way she carries herself off the pitch. Credit: Photo captured by AFC Toronto. A versatile and internationally tested midfielder, Regan brings a wealth of leadership experience and a deep commitment to building the women’s game in Canada. She joined AFC Toronto from the Danish club HB Køge and has consistently demonstrated the values and vision that define the club’s culture. A member of Canada’s National Women’s Team, Regan has earned eight senior international caps and was most recently called into the squad for a two-game series with Argentina. Originally from Burnaby, British Columbia, she developed through the Vancouver Whitecaps Girls Elite REX program and was twice named BC Soccer Youth Player of the Year. She captained the University of Texas Longhorns from 2020 to 2022, helping the team to a Big 12 Championship and earning All-Big 12 honors in three seasons. “To be named the first captain of AFC Toronto is an unbelievable honour,” said Regan. “This club stands for something bigger than any one of us, and I’m incredibly proud to help lead a group of players who are as passionate about building the women’s game in Canada as I am.
