June 12, 2025...MLS NEXT Pro...Toronto FC II vs Inter Miami CF II game report by Rocket Robin

Result and details of the Friday June 12, 2025 MLS NEXT Pro game between Toronto FC II and Inter Miami CF II
played at York Lions Stadium in North York at 7:00pm.

I will be adding pictures, logos, lineups and more of a play by play in the days to come.

10 min...TFC Micah Chisholm GOAL...TFC Lucas Olguin after a short run to 20 yard line on right, turns and rolls pass back to TFC player who one-touches centering pass along 25 yard line to TFC Patrick McDonald on slight right and he sends low ball forward for charging TFC Malik Henry who splits defenders at 15 yards to get to ball and from top right edge of 6 yard box rolls centering pass to Chisholm to tap in 4 yarder into center of open net as goalie Matias Marin had to be ready for shot on right post.

42 min...TFC Marko Stojadinovic GOAL...TFC Lucas Olguin receives back pass at 45 yard line in middle and sends low pass forward and to right for charging TFC Malik Henry to receive it at 20 yard line on slight right and he sends low centering pass from 12 yard line out of goalie's reach at 8 yards and charging Stojadinovic steps in front of waiting TFC Micah Chisholm and rolls shot into center of open net.

Final Score:......Toronto FC II.......2.......Inter Miami CF II........0........

Attendance peaked at about 250 by halftime on this mild evening with a falling temperature which meant I was glad by the end of the game I was wearing my hoodie. There were more kids and parents than usual from the team having a bunch of kids as player escorts at the beginning of the game. I had this game listed as starting at 6:00pm on the schedule at the beginning of the season and the FotMob betting site didn't list the game at all although they had the other three league games of tonight. It's a working/school day tomorrow and the Stanley Cup Final is on television. Florida Panthers play very close to Miami and are hosting tonight.

Some of those children were wearing Lionel Messi Argentina or Miami kits. Well no chance of seeing him tonight. The ball kids were given pink t-shirts to wear which turned out OK as Miami wore their all black kits tonight so there was no confusing the pinks of their usual colours and the kids.

Adisa De Rosario earned the shutout for TFC and pulls into the lead in that statistic with his fifth of the season, one ahead of Chattanooga FC's Eldin Jakupovic. Interesting that Jakupovic is listed as 40 years old on the NEXT Pro site while De Rosario is exactly half his age! De Rosario had three great saves that could have changed the game if they'd gone in. 31 minutes had IM Cohen Yuval shoot a loose ball from 8 yards when a defender slipped that DeRo sprawled and saved on the right side. 44 minutes had him fly to push IM Daniel Pinter's 15 yarder wide left of the post. 51 minutes had Yuval take a low shot from 12 yards on a sharp angle that DeRo slid to save on the near post.

TFC used a backline of Mark Fisher (captain) and Reid Fisher (not brothers) as well as Stefan Kapor and Micah Chisholm and they kept Miami off their game and also were successful upfield as well.

Miami wasted most of their cornerkicks by passing the ball upfield and trying to work their way into the box rather than crossing it right away.

TFC continues to struggle with scoring goals with only 14 in 13 games which is the third worst in the Eastern Conference, only better than the 14th and 15th place teams. Miami has the worst goals against in the East so those two stats may have helped TFC get the win but not run up the score.

TFC players with Canada's U-17 training camp are back with the team. Tim Fortier and Stefan Kapor got starts tonight and Richard Chukwu came on at 64 minutes actually replacing Kapor.

TFC's other good chance was when Patrick McDonald received a centering pass and blasted a 20 yarder down the middle which hit the top of the bar and the ball flew up and landed at the top left corner of the 18 yard box.

Refeee Nivin Raizada gave out six Yellow cards tonight (three to each team). I counted all the TFC cards were for dissent or time wasting...these all add up and somewhere down the line it could make Adisa De Rosario (too long taking a freekick from deep in his own end), Richard Chukwu (taking too long to take a throw-in then running 10 yard up the sideline before throwing it) and Andrei Dumitur (possibly complaining about a call).

By the time I got home the other Eastern Conference game was also over. There are still eight teams in the East that are scheduled to play this weekend.

The win improves Toronto's record to 5 wins, 5 losses, 3 ties, 0 bonus points for shootout wins and 18 points. That's good for a tie for seventh place although they are placed in seventh because they have one more win than Philadelphia Union FC II although the Union have four games in hand.

Miami's loss drops their record to 4 wins, 8 losses, 2 ties, 0 bonus points and 14 points. That puts them in a two way tie with Atlanta United 2 for twelfth although Miami is placed twelfth because they have two more wins.

Toronto now goes on an extended road trip to Orlando then Philadelphia and are finally home for a game on Friday July 11th against New York Red Bull II which now takes on special meaning as former TFC and American National team captain Michael Bradley was just announced yesterday as the new manager of Red Bulls II. I'm not sure why they made the change as Red Bulls II are currently in second place.
