SUBJECT:CNSL Toronto Jets vs Hamilton White Eagles

Here are my comments on the Canadian National Soccer League (CNSL)
game on Thursday August 17, 1995 at Esther Shiner Stadium at 8pm.
This was considered a League game.

ref Steve Mortimer, linesmen Mustafa Kemal and Madi Tanashi, 4th
Colin McIsaac.  Officials were dressed in green for second time this
year.      ref had a rough night of players and fans on his back for
his calls.  Also there were no ballboys and this stadium has forty yard
endzones to the back fence on each end.  That slowed the game down.

1st half

14 min  WEagle Yellow card  Dauda takes pass outrunning defender
crashes into goalie and heads bouncing ball into net from 15 yards.
What he gets for this is a yellow card.
16 min  WEagle Yellow card  Medina for late tackle 25 yards from net.

20 min  Jet Yellow  Marcucci for knockdown
29 min  Jet goalie stops point blank shot from Dauda

37 min  Jet GOAL  Marcucci (5th of year) rolls in low pass; shot from
7 yard out on his left side of net.

39 min or sooner  WEagle sub  Whelan for Hitching

1st half summary
  Not many chances in first 10 minutes.  Jets gradually took control
but Dauda was always dangerous when WEagle best player Vukovic could
set him up.

49 min Jets GOAL  ball crosses over to Antonucci (2nd of season)
about 15 yards out on open left side and he one-time-cannons a banana
shot into right side of net.

56 min Jets goalie stops header, then point blank shot.  Ending this
good lot of pressure with WEagle player being hauled down in crease.
57 min WEagle GOAL  Penalty shot by Vukovic (7th of year) low to left
side, goalie dives right.
61 min Jets goalie stops Dauda point blank.
62 min Jets have good shot over bar.

66 min Jets have breakaway 5 yards offside at midfield but player
fires wide from 35 yards.  (I can't make out black numbers on blue
uniforms from long range).

71 min  WEagle Yellow  Baicoc gets card for either grabbing Jet
player going by him or faking an injury.

73 min Antonucci shoots long one slightly high
74 min Jets sub  Cancelliere for Ferraira (I know Ferraira is the
same guy playing for Italia two weeks ago).

76 min Jets GOAL  Houston (2nd of year) takes shot that is blocked by
WEagle player (with arm?) Houston blasts rebound from 25 yards out
from right side of field to top left corner.

78 min Jets Yellow  Cancelliere for barging through defender.

80 min Jets sub  Gamble for Marcucci.

85 min light rain starts but stops before the game ends.

86 min Jets sub  Solomita for Annissi

88 min Jets sub  Viduch for Rizzo

89 min Jets goalie saves shot rebounded for Vukovic.

90 min Jets sub Fioccola replaces Zanini.

Final score  Toronto Jets 3  Hamilton White Eagles 1

Attendance was about 300 which is the usual.  There was no big boost
to attendance caused by the Parma vs CNSL AllStar game last Sunday.
I'll be interested to see if there is a big crowd for the Scarborough
Astros game as there was a free coupon in the programs from the Parma
game. Or I'm going to that one.  I haven't gone to an Astro home
game.  I'll see if covering three teams is a bit much.
