Result of the Tuesday October 8th, 2002 CPSL game between Mississauga Olympians and Hamilton Thunder played at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke at 8:00pm. This was considered the one game playoff of 2nd and 3rd place teams in the Western Conference for a spot in the CPSL Playoffs.

After extra time.
Attendance was about 50 on this cold night where parkas and gloves were required. Some of the players wore gloves too.
Thunder used their reserve team roster and looked great in the first half with their youthful team. Olympians with their four A-League Toronto Lynx players of Adrian Serioux, Brian Ashton, Sean Faria and David DiPlacido looked disorganized during the first half but turned things around after halftime. Thunder looked like they were hanging on for patches of the second half. Dave Simpson looked like the best player for the Thunder with his speedy runs as a striker. Early (27 minute) subs Jimmy Kuzmanosky and Joevannie Peart got the Olympians rolling putting the Thunder defence on their heels.
Thunder uniforms of black numbers on red shirts caused me problems on identifying players on the far side of the field which should hurt my more detailed game report. Frequent calls of "Referee, you crook" were shouted out by the Thunder fans when calls didn't go their team's way but ex-Thunder players would probably direct them against the Thunder owner Italo Ferraro on their bench with coach Andre Jansonsici from what I've been e-mailed and picked up on the Voyageurs message board. The goaltending was solid for both teams in tonight's game so no fault can be laid at son Roberto Ferrari by his detractors.
And now, we return to the Regular season!! The Thunder finish off their regular season on Thursday hosting Brampton Hitmen. Olympians complete theirs with a game on Sunday against Montreal. Both games wouldn't have changed the standings of tonight's game but the Thunder should be pretty dejected. The stadium was available tonight at this 'neutral' site but maybe in another week it would be even colder.
