Tillsonburg final stop of season for City

By KATHY RUMLESKI, Free Press Sports Reporter

Saturday is the last chance to catch London City of the Canadian Professional Soccer League in action this year.
City will play the Montreal Dynamites in Tillsonburg at the newly-opened Millennium Soccer Park at 3 p.m.
City (2-9-7) did not make the playoffs, while the Dynamites (9-4-3) have clinched a playoff spot and are currently second in the Eastern Conference standings with 30 points.
"It's the talk of the town," said Chess Sulkowski, the organizer of what's being called pro soccer day in Tillsonburg. "It's the first time we've had a professional game in Tillsonburg."
Along with the CPSL game, the Tillsonburg under-12 Premier boys' team will play their counterparts from Brantford at 1 p.m.
A banquet will be held for the teams following the last game in the $600,000 clubhouse, which will be open to the public for the first time.
Sulkowski's Grade 9 graphic design students at Annandale have put together a commemorative program, which had sponsorship from 80 businesses in the area.
Sulkowski is anticipating between 300 to 500 people at the game. "We've been promoting it in the schools. We've had all the minor soccer people called."
City manager Harry Gauss said his team is looking forward to playing in Tillsonburg.
"We've enjoyed all of the neutral-site games," he said. "We really have a good time."
